Simple Pleasures
Simple Pleasures

Simple pleasures surround my life,

Relieving me from stress and strife.

Simple pleasures so free to all,

Some are great and some are small.

When I'm down, I look around,

My smile begins to erase the frown.

Hearing the songs of the birds as they fly

To my feeder from the sky.

It's my pleasure to feed the birds,

God says He sees it, it's in His Word.

Feeling the sun as it warms my face,

A soft breeze that's here and leaves no trace.

Snowflakes as they drift down,

Painting everything white upon the ground.

Walking through the woods on an autumn day,

Tthe smell in the air of new mown hay.

Watching a hawk circle the sky,

Up, up he goes, so high.

Watching children as they play,

Laughing in their carefree way.

A hug from my grandchild,

That shows I'm loved.

They are a gift from God above.

The conversation between a friend,

A cup of coffee before it ends.

Soft warm blankets upon my bed,

As I lay down and rest my head.

Knowing that God is with me,

All night and all day,

These Simple Pleasures are here to stay.
