Sonnet 1, A Reply to Drayton
Sonnet 1, A Reply to Drayton

Since there's no help; come, let us kiss and part;
Remembering the forbidden embraces,
And reaching out to your soul in the dark;
Trying to lie to those judging faces.
I rejoice when recalling your warm arms
Possessing me, pulling me closer to you,
Yearning for you inside me, safe from harm;
Secretly, we became one soul from two.
Yet you insist on loving another;
I am a sin, a lie best forgotten.
Our heated passion lost in ice, in her;
Fire will melt the ice, let the warmth in;
But secrets aren't shared, not secrets of the heart;
Since there's no help; come, let us kiss and part.

When the end has come the fire still burns.The pain grows as the soul searching takes its toll. Love is thus. You convey an emotion that tears from a broken heart, a heart that is wounded by conditional trust, trust that is not mutual. Zishan

A sad inspiration. I like this sonnet.
